Crazy in Love

Flynn Daly can’t seem to find her purpose or passion in life. She has held a number of jobs but they just aren’t the right fit. Her family is worried about her and wants her to move out of her dangerous South Boston neighborhood. Under family pressure, Flynn agrees to go look over an inn the family has inherited from a distant aunt and inform the family of what is going on at the inn so they can prepare to sell it, however, she isn’t supposed to tell anyone they intend to sell. Jake Tucker is a bartender at the inn that Flynn has been sent to. He expects the family will sell but he will do anything in his power to delay the decision for the people who work at the inn and for some personal reasons of his own. What neither Flynn nor Jake expected was the instant attraction they feel for one another. They are from two different worlds and both know Flynn will never stay in the country. Then the real problems start. Flynn is being haunted by her dead aunt, someone is trying to kill either Flynn or Jake, and not everything is as perfect with the inn as it first appears. Can Flynn and Jake figure out what is going on before one of them is hurt? Is there more than lust behind their attraction to one another and should they pursue it? Has Flynn finally found something or someone that can hold her interest?

Crazy in Love by Lani Diane Rich is a very cute, entertaining, and humorous story! The book moves incredibly fast with most of the story taking place in a week’s time. At first Flynn was just a little too flighty for me but Ms. Rich manages to convince me that there is more to Flynn than meets the eye and Flynn turns out to be someone I’d like to know. I liked Jake from the beginning, even when he was being a jerk, because I understood his motivation. Both Flynn and Jake have older sisters that are interfering in their lives and I liked Jake’s attitude towards them; just listen to them but don’t necessarily believe what they say. I did not like the crazy aunt’s ghost. I thought she could have been more helpful instead of a pain but what do you expect from ghost; they have their own agendas too. I loved the acronym CWIL for Crazy Woman in Love that plays a significant role in the story! We’ve all heard the old saying about women scorned but CWIL is a new twist; these women aren’t scorned just overlooked and underestimated. Ms. Rich has a marvelous yet slightly wicked sense of humor. If you are looking for a quick, humorous, romance story with lots of action, Crazy in Love is a good book.
