Dawn Madison is back in Hollywood after getting a call that her dad was missing. Now that she’s back home to look for him she’s finding out that not everything is as simple as it seems. Jonah, a man who she has talked with but never seen, Kiko a mind reading midget who is also an actor and the ever stand-offish Breisi.

If working with her dad’s co-workers wasn’t strange enough Dawn soon finds herself battling vampires and other things of the night she thought were just the imagination of Hollywood while looking for her dad and trying to unravel the mystery of a child star that died years ago but appeared recently in a new film.

Now the appearance of a sexy PI has Dawn questioning herself and who she should trust.

Night Rising is the first book in the Vampire Babylon series and I have to say it is off to a fantastic start! Dawn is a strong character that has a hard time letting anyone get close to her but takes everything being thrown at her remarkably well. The wide mix of eclectic and fascinating characters throughout this story only adds another layer to this already multilayered book.

Chris Marie Green has penned a gripping tale that instantly grabs you and doesn’t let go even after you finish the book. The world she created is dark and mysterious but written so well that you can easily picture the darkness creeping in. I would have to say this is one of the best paranormal stories I have read in a very long time and can’t wait to read Midnight Reign the second book in this series.
