Secret Moon

Secret Moon by Barbara Sheridan and Anne Cain is the fourth book in the j-rock ChildsPrey series. Two years ago Miji Makana, a much beloved rock star, said goodbye to his followers during a huge concert and appeared to vanish from the face of the earth. This is Miji’s story.

Yutaka Kaneshiro is so bored with his job at a publishing firm. He always wanted to become a writer, but all he does is review submissions sent to the firm, not exactly what he had in mind but it pays the bills. Things are about to change. Yuta is sent to Japan to write a write a short piece about the rock group ChildsPrey since his stepbrother Toru is a band member. As Yuta begins to delve into his story, he becomes very interested into a previous rock group of Toru’s, Gothic deSade, and it’s missing member Miji. The fan sites are full of speculation about what happened to Miji, anywhere from kidnapping by aliens to Yakuza involvement. No one knows exactly what happened and why he just disappeared. As Yuta meets with ChildsPrey, the more he learns about Miji the more he needs to learn about the real person behind the stage persona. Yuta finds himself at a small family style restaurant where the cook is he most sinfully handsome man, Taro, that he has ever seen, but when Yuta asks him if he ever knew Miji the look of anger he receives is way out of context. When leaving, Yuta sees a small frame with a slip of paper with the name Gothic deSade on it. Who is this man and will Yuta ever solve the mystery about the man Miji?

Ms. Sheridan and Ms. Cain have created another spellbinding story about the very real-to-life rock group ChildsPrey. The character of Miji is your typical pampered rock star, but why would he leave everything behind at the height of his career if deep down he wasn’t happy with his life. Yuta, more so than any of Miji’s friends, sees inside him and finds the same loneliness that he feels. Together they find a love beyond anything before, and that says a lot for the popular and wild Miji. I loved how people who knew Miji, except for Mandy, can’t believe where Miji has been all of this time. Come join Yuta as he unravels the mystery and may find a love to last all time. Thanks go to Ms. Sheridan and Ms. Cain for another phenomenal addition to the ChildsPrey series.
