Hot Blooded

Loni Soleil has worked for Kelis LeBrun for just over a month. In that time, he’s had an incredible time keeping his fantasies to himself. Feeding on the unsuspecting inhabitants of Los Angeles was one thing. Taking his delectable assistant to his bed and feeding on her was something else altogether.

Speaking of Los Angeles, Kelis has seen a lot in his 300 years as a vampire. Summers so hot they have rolling black outs wouldn’t be the high point on his list of memories. That is, until he and Loni get stuck in an elevator during a power blackout. When she starts removing her clothes, becoming seduction itself, Kelis succumbs to her treasures. Then he learns that Loni isn’t the human he thought she was and his future starts to look a whole lot brighter.

KyAnn Waters has written a unique and sizzling tale with Hot Blooded. Sinfully delicious, Kelis lights up the pages as the reader is drawn into his conflicting emotions. He is so obviously attracted to Loni, but thinks he couldn’t possibly have a future with her as he’s a vampire and she’s not. He never wants to subject another to the undead life as a vampire. Their sexual intimacy is as hot as the Los Angeles heat wave the story’s set in and there’s one segment of the elevator scene that had me grinning with delight.

It’s hysterical to read his reaction when he learns Loni isn’t what he initially thought and suddenly the idea of being with her is much more plausible than a fleeting fantasy. Loni, certainly isn’t a mousy or fragile heroine, but experiencing her vulnerability is enchanting and suddenly I was desiring their happily ever after, holding my breath, waiting on Kelis’ capitulation. Although short, Hot Blooded is a sexy, entertaining and satisfying read. 4 Angels.
