Diabolique

Phillippe LaFaire, scholar, has come to the German settlement to teach the women history, poetry, and calligraphy. The councilmen of the pagan tribe have made it quite clear that they expect a firm hand when dealing with their women in the classroom. The settlement is unique as it has held on to its primitive ways and not changed much in the hundred years since it started. Things are not always what they seem. Innocence seems to lurk around every corner...or does it? Phillippe is drawn to one of the daughters in his class after witnessing a pagan rite. Tatiane’s allure and sweetness draws him to her like a moth to a flame. Phillippe’s flippant arrogance in regard to Tatiane’s feelings allows evil forces to take Tatiane. Phillippe must make the decision to sacrifice what he must to rescue her or be lost forever.

Diabolique is a unique and compelling dive into the paranormal. Definitely a new twist that I haven’t read before and I found it to be quite intriguing. The characters’ interaction is not expected and refreshingly different. Phillippe’s and Tatiane’s feelings for each other transcend the physical plane that we know. The story is written in the first person. I usually steer clear of the first person when reading yet found that Ms. Erotique did a fine job using this style of writing.
