Regularly Scheduled Life

Life can change in an instant. Sean and Kyle know this all to well. Life has been wonderful for them; disgustingly happy is how their friends describe them. But all that changes when Sean, a chemistry teacher, is involved in the take down of a teenager who begins shooting other students and staff. Overnight their safe and cozy world becomes scary and filled with the bright lights of the media. Kyle just wants things to go back to the way they were; Sean wants to turn the tragedy into something positive. Will they be strong enough to survive the different directions and how the crisis has changed them?

This book had me crying and crying. It really touched a nerve with all the senseless violence that is taking place in the schools today. I’ve never really thought about all the fallout that the victims of these crimes have to deal with, other than the obvious pain and loss that they must feel for those who had fallen. Sean and Kyle really did have everything and in one brutal moment it was torn away from them. Their differing reactions to what happened, how they chose to handle it, the miscommunication and the unconscious pushing away of all that is familiar. Each coped differently and didn’t sit down and talk their problems through. At several points I just wanted to shake them and tell them to stop it, they love each other, just stop! K.A Mitchell has written a thought provoking, deeply emotional piece with Regularly Scheduled Life and I didn’t want to go back to my own regularly scheduled life when it was over, I want to stay in Sean and Kyle’s world and make continue to follow their story. This is a definite 5 Angel book!
