Oh Yum! A Lady In Waiting

Sylvie, the Dowager Duchess of Bartlebyrne, has had two lovers during her thirty nine years of living. The first was her husband, a man thirty six years her senior with very tame sexual appetites. The other, while physically a faceless coachman, was mentally her new Vicar, the twenty-six year old Mr. Edmund James. She had been thinking about him that lonely night, wanting him. So much so that when her coachman approached her, she didn't say no.

She should have said no. That disappointing experience was no substitute. It left her feeling disgusted with herself and wanting the vicar even more. The problem is… he's young, thirteen years her junior, only a few years older than her son. She can't want him, can she? Even though the vulgar talking, reformed rake, newly ordained and oh-so-virile Vicar clearly wants her.

Oh Yum! A Lady In Waiting is a hot, hot read. The romance storyline is a clear second to the steamy physical relationship between Sylvie and Edmund. I loved that Samantha Kane explores the younger man/older woman dynamic. My only regret? The transition from the purely physical to the emotional wasn't developed as much as it could have been (it is a sixty nine page novel after all). Though goodness, any woman with a pulse would fall a bit in love with Edmund, that rascal.
