Make U Sweat

Cavanaugh Brother’s Movers is an institution in Texas, for fifty years it’s been moving people’s lives, but the last of the brothers is dead and left to carry the family business are three women. Don’t be fooled, these girls know how to sweat it up.

Reece is the family mother hen, always taking care of those around her. When a moving job brings her in contact with Jack Saunders, Reece finds out just what it means to be taken care of. Can she give up her control and let Jack lead?

Robbie Jo works hard and plays hard. She’s not one to let something she wants get away, but Cash McBride isn’t playing the game her way. With Robbie Jo at her seductive best, just how long can Cash keep her at arm’s length?

Carla hates sweating for a living, and now that her father’s gone she’s eager to move on with her life. But sexy attorney Josh Winters has her thinking about things other than the future she’s planned. Is the hot sex enough to keep Carla from turning her back on all she’s known for a life she thinks she deserves?

Make U Sweat by Amie Stuart is three stories about strong, independent women who aren’t afraid to go after what they want; in or out of the bedroom.

Reece is the perfect older sister, single mother, fix-all matriarch. She’s held the reins for so long that when Jack comes along she can’t help but want to be in control. Jack’s having none of that, he wants her to let go, have some fun and get a little taken care of for once. Their struggle for control is a great read and the sparks that fly between them definitely get you sweating. But I found Reece’s slow realization that she could lean on Jack a little very well written as Ms. Stuart never lost sight of her true character; that of a woman who was strong enough to stand on her own.

Robbie Jo gets what and who she wants, no man has ever turned her down before and she can’t help but be intrigued by the one that does. I loved her inner struggle to understand why Cash kept turning her down. After one night of hot sex, Robbie Jo wants more from Cash than he’s willing to give. Cash doesn’t let people close, but Robbie Jo has somehow snuck under his skin and even though he’s unsure of where he’s going he can’t resist her. Both Cash and Robbie Jo are more than they seem and Ms. Stuart brings both of these complex characters to life with ease. I loved discovering that Robbie Jo wasn’t the puff cake she first appeared.

Carla, I’m afraid, had me hating her for the first two thirds of the book. I was really concerned that I wouldn’t be able to finish the book but Ms. Stuart has written such an engaging character in Carla. She’s bitchy and selfish, and I just plain didn’t like her, but by the end of the first chapter of Carla’s tale I could see a very complex, mixed up young woman. By the end of the second chapter I was hoping she’d get herself sorted out and not destroy her life by making a decision that was totally wrong for her. Of course it helped that Josh is one fine man. And we won’t mention the hot sex they have.

Make U Sweat is a great read, with strong, really likable characters. If you’re a happy ever after fan like me, the happy for now ending might leave you unsatisfied but I have to say I certainly wasn’t unsatisfied when I read the final word. I won’t hesitate in the future to pick up a book by Amie Stuart.
