Tribute

Cilla McGowan has moved to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley to restore her grandmother’s farmhouse to its original beauty. Cilla is a former child star who comes from a line of famous women. Her mother is an actress that has always walked in her own mother’s shadow, never quite stepping into the spotlight on her own, her grandmother was the famous Janet Hardy who was a legend of her time and was cut down in the prime of her life.

The old farmhouse holds a lot of importance to Cilla and even though she had to fight her mother to buy the house, she knows it was worth it to know the woman who has haunted her dreams all of her life and shaped her life.

While Cilla works to make the house what it once was and could be again, she meets the sexy neighbor, Ford Sawyer who makes it clear he’s not one to be ignored and does his best to show Cilla that they would be great together. But as they gain ground on their individual goals, it’s soon clear that someone is targeting Cilla and holding her responsible for her grandmother’s actions before she was even born.

Tribute is an exciting, can’t put the book down kind of story. Cilla is the kind of heroine I enjoying reading about. She isn’t afraid of hard work or getting her hands dirty and she doesn’t run off and let a man protect her at the first sign of trouble or turn the man away out of sheer stubbornness. Ford and his dog Spock added some comic relief as well as being an integral part of the story. There was plenty of passion and excitement between Cilla and Ford as we’ve all come to expect from any Nora Roberts book and let me just say you will not be disappointed.

Nora Roberts is a master story-teller. She is one of the few authors who can make me see and feel exactly what she is describing, making everything so much more real and tangible. The summer just isn’t complete to me unless I spend some of it with a Nora Roberts book in my hands and Tribute was an excellent book to read.
