Between Good and Aeval
Claire has a portal to another realm in her guest bedroom closet. One day a woman by the name of Myrna Terrence comes to Claire asking for her help. She says her husband, Geoff, was taken from her by a faery in her dreams. Claire asks Myrna if she has any idea why Geoff was taken from her. Myrna tells Claire that the faery was asking Myrna questions about Geoff and how his performance was in the bedroom. Claire promises to get Geoff back for Myrna. There can be only one type of faery that would take Geoff and that is Aeval. Aeval is a judgment faery. When Claire tells her friend Dell about the situation she has on her hands, Dell offers to help Claire get Geoff back. Dell comes up with an idea. He tells Claire that they will need to pretend to be married and lovers. The reason they can’t be just lovers is that Aeval only pays visits to married couples. Dell decides to research more information into Aeval so he and Claire can be prepared. What Dell finds out is Aeval is not just singular but plural. Aeval is actually a cult that takes husband from their wives when the husbands are not performing in the bedroom. The cult takes the husbands to school them in the art of love making.
I liked the idea of faeries taking husbands when they are not performing up to par and schooling them on how to please their wives better. I mean, what woman wouldn’t want a guy that was all about the woman’s needs? The only thing was I thought that the faeries were a little weak. For being a bunch of faeries that were supposed to be in control in addition to punishing men if they were not good in the bedroom, at the first sign that something might not be going right they were ready to give up. Other than that fact I did really enjoy this book and the play on words for the title Between Good and Aeval. Dayna Hart did a good job with Between Good and Aeval. I was able to follow along with what was happening. Plus Dayna Hart made it seem like the concept of faeries taking husband could be real. For anyone who is looking for a good fantasy book, try Between Good and Aeval.
