Lord William Foxton or “Fox”, as he is known to his friends, has been married for twenty years and hasn’t set his eyes upon his wife since the day he was married at the age of eleven. Fox’s carefree life has come to an end. He must go to his wife in the tropics and they must produce an heir within 2 years to ensure his continued support from her estate. Little does he expect to find the notorious Pirate Meg, who has raided the ship he is traveling on is none other than his wife Lady Madeline. Madeline has put on the disguise of Pirate Meg for many years with the sole purpose of freeing slaves, her life is dedicated to helping the slaves and as far as she is concerned no absentee husband is going to get in the way. Intrigues and twists abound while Fox and Madeline realize their feelings for each other. Can they overcome all the obstacles and find the love they need?

Not your typical pirate story, Fox’s Bride has cast a courageous and stunning woman as the pirate and doesn’t miss a beat on a new twist of an old plot. Madeline is a woman out of time that believes in human rights and, the underlying story of freeing the slaves is refreshing. The heat between Madeline and Fox is exciting and kept me eager to turn the page to see what would befall them next. Fox is funny and witty, he interacts with the other characters in a winning way. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and can’t wait to read other stories from Ms. Ruttan.
