Shelby is a newly divorced, workaholic woman who is looking for a fresh start. Hanging With a Time Surfer is the second book in the Paranormal Lovers of St. Louis series.

Hanging With a Time Surfer begins in the bedroom and this is an important fact. Most the story takes place in with the characters in bed, either with each other or with other characters. This story contained that quirky sense of fun and goofball humor that I really liked from the first book, Help I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door. But that is where the similarities ended. I like a good romp in the bedroom, or in other rooms for that matter, but I also want there to be more than just an emotionless good time. Every time I would start to connect to Shelby and Quentin or become engrossed in the plot they were dropping their pants and getting it on. The sex scenes were explicit and scorching hot, but the emotional connection between the characters wasn’t given time to build. It seemed like there was one harrowing, close call after another with no time for character development. Add in the other sex partners and the way the focus seemed to drift from Shelby and Quentin and I found myself growing increasingly frustrated with this story. I did find it entertaining but not very filling and it left me hungry for more of the emotional connection that I felt with her previous offering.
