The Immortal Prince

Arkady Desean is given the task of proving that a murderer is not one of the legendary Immortal Princes. Cayal is a man accused of murder who announces after surviving his hanging that he is a figure out of the Tide Lord Tarot. What happens when you begin to believe in something that is so fantastical and beyond the realm of the world you know that it changes everything that you once thought was true? Arkady Desean is about to find out.

I’ve been a huge fan of Jennifer Fallon ever since a friend brought home the first book in her Demon Child Trilogy after a trip to Australia. I have been anxiously awaiting the American release of The Immortal Prince and am happy to report that it was well worth the wait. Ms. Fallon’s fabulous world building skills shine through, Amyrantha was a shining jewel and I was endlessly fascinated by this world. As is to be expected from this fabulous author the characters were filled with life and texture. Even the ones that I didn’t like were so well drawn that they felt real. The dialog between characters was at times a bit wordy but not enough to detract from the intriguing plot arcs. This is the first book in a series and it reads as such, a lot of establishing of character roles and plot arcs took place, but it only left me eagerly awaiting the publications of the next books in the series. I read this book in about five hours. I only took a break when I absolutely had to, it was just that good, and is so often the case after finishing a book that is this good, I suffered from book grief. I miss the world and this cast of characters already. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this epic adventure and can only hope that the next three books are as good, with such a fabulous world and strongly built characters added to many interesting plot points The Immortal Prince is going to be a hard act to follow.
