Erik Winslow had vowed to protect Kacie Renault after her parents’ death years ago without her knowledge of him. There had been a group of them that were friends and while some were vampire slayers and others were vampires, they all worked for the same cause, to protect innocents from rogue vampires. Kacie had been trained as a slayer but had left her duties to have a “normal” life. On a trip back home a vampire is killed, and Kacie is the one held responsible. When Erik finds out it was Kacie who might be the killer, he must make a choice to avenge a friend or defend Kacie against his closest friends. When sparks start to fly between them, they both must make choices that will alter their destinies forever.

Be prepared when you open this book to read it in one sitting. Having never read a book by Ms. Popp, this reviewer was swept away from the very first page. This story was an amazing rollercoaster ride into the life of vampires and vampire slayers. Erik was a very dark and sexy hero who will leave readers drooling and wanting more just like him. Kacie is the perfect fit for him and was quick to not just give in to him but held her own ground. The secondary characters were a thrill to get to know as well, and I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Popp because this reviewer is definitely a fan, and she is now on automatic buy list!
