Pursuit

San Luis, Mexico is a great tourist destination, but also a great place to hide. Charlotte Court is a woman on the run, accused of murdering her father but was framed by Robert Haine, CEO of Court Industries. Charlotte’s father Philip was dying of pancreatic cancer and Robert wanted to speed along the process. If Philip dies, sooner than later, Robert will be eight billion dollars richer. What he didn’t count on was Charlotte witnessing one of Robert’s henchmen murdering Philip. Charlotte was almost crippled by a gunshot but got away. Now Robert must find Charlotte and eliminate her for good.

Charlotte barely survived her wound but was able to travel from Upstate New York to Mexico. She is frightened and upset over the violent way her father has died. She knows she will never be able to return to the privileged life she was once a part of and now spends her days recovering from her injury and painting.

She suddenly notices a man walking along the beach and discovers he is Army Lieutenant Commander Matt Saunders. He looks lost like herself, and also seems to be recovering from an injury of some sort. Matt has had his eye on Charlotte, or his “angel” as he nicknames her. He would like nothing more than to make her acquaintance and when Charlotte finds herself in trouble, Matt is there to save her.

Charlotte and Matt start a tentative friendship that will lead into something deeper between the two. Matt wants to protect Charlotte and find out what she is hiding. But Charlotte must keep her secrets because if anyone finds out who she really is, she may end up dead. Matt holds the key to her innocence and will do everything he can to save his angel and hope for a future together.

If you are looking for an on the edge of your seat thriller with an excellent romance and hands down amazing story, you must pick up Pursuit. Elizabeth Jennings has taken a woman on the run plot and made it explode. The setting of San Luis, Mexico comes alive and the tension is non-stop. Matt is a wonderful and giving hero who only cares for Charlotte and will do everything in his power to make sure she is alive and well cared for Charlotte, in turn, is a worthy heroine for Matt that any woman would admire.

The villains are truly horrible characters and their actions will send chills down your spine. And even though Charlotte and Matt become more than just friends, their romance does not over take the story to the point it is just about them releasing their sexual frustrations with each other. Elizabeth Jennings is definitely the author to watch and Pursuit is one of the must reads of the year.
