Something About Maggie
Maggie Walker is in love with her very best friend in the world, photographer Jack Lion. They have been best friends since they were ten years old, and she has loved him through his marriage and a divorce that almost broke him down into a man that she did not know. She knows that nothing can come of this love because his ex-wife really did a number on him, and now he trusts no woman with his heart. However, Jack is back in town, and he has asked her why they never got together and for some reason he seems bound and determined that they try to get together this time around. Unfortunately for Maggie, she has a very hard time listening to her mind tell her body no. Will this romance turn into a happily ever after or will it wreck their friendship and leave them both wishing that they had only remained friends?
Jack is so very glad to be back home in Melbourne, Australia and to be back with his oldest and dearest friend Maggie. What he doesn’t expect is the sizzling chemistry that hits him square in the chest when he gives her a big hug at the airport. They have always been just friends, but now he is wondering what would happen if they took this friendship to the next level. The big problem is that Maggie wants more from him than the fling that he wants. Maggie wants a husband and a father for her children, but he just doesn’t want to give his heart to another woman after what he went through with his ex-wife. Will he decide to trust her with his heart and start a life with her?
Normally, I love anything written by Rose Middleton and luckily Something About Maggie proved to be just as much of a great read as anything else I’ve read by her. I loved the friendship that this book was based on, and how the couple couldn’t decide if they wanted to risk the friendship in order to take it to romance. There were several times that I wanted to smack one of the characters because they just didn’t do what I wanted them to do, but luckily Ms. Middleton was in charge of the characters and got them to behave. The sexual tension was there from the very beginning of the book, and it carried to the very end to a very exciting conclusion. I’d definitely recommend this book because the friendship makes the romance, and this book has them both.
