Shadows of Evil
Kia Wolfe has dreamed of owning a house for years so when she spots it for sale on the internet she buys it. The house is in the mountains of Tennessee and from the moment she walks through the door it feels like home. But there is something wrong in her house. There is some kind of evil presence in the house that wants Kia gone. Garrett McKnight is part-owner of the construction company Kia hires to fix up her house and when they meet sparks fly. There is something extraordinary about their attraction but Garrett hates Kia’s house and is determined to get her out of it before she is injured or killed. People who live in that house die horrible deaths and Garrett doesn’t want Kia to be next.
Shadows of Evil by Cheryel Hutton is fascinating story full of curses, werewolves, ghosts, and witches. Kia is a strong and extremely stubborn woman who has decided not to ever let someone else tell her what to do. For too much of her life she feels other people have been trying to direct her life and she has had enough. When Garrett tries to express his concern for her safety in the house, she shuts him down refusing to listen to anyone who tries to go against what she wants. Garrett, having been burned by a very selfish woman before, is afraid he is about to repeat the same mistake again. The problem is these two are truly made for one another and may even be soul mates but Garrett doesn’t think he can risk his heart again. But don’t forget this isn’t just a romance; there is some kind of paranormal evil presence that is determined to harm Kia and anyone that gets in its way.
I really enjoyed this story! The suspense is nail biting as Kia tries to figure out how to get rid of the evil and keep her house even when she knows she is in danger. The romance between Kia and Garrett is also stirring as both have been hurt before and must put their past behind them if they want a future together. This is a different paranormal story than the usual offerings. For one thing, a number of paranormal elements are all in play in this tale. And Kia and Garrett are on the fringe of paranormal with the evil presence and some of the secondary characters being the major paranormal beings. You will not be sorry you picked up this book if you are looking for suspense and paranormal romance with a twist of some really scary stuff!
