Never Never Land
Never Never Land by Treva Harte is a homoerotic contemporary story.
Chris, Adam, Jake, and Jenni have been friends ever since college and have stuck together through thick and thin. They get together every Friday for dinner to keep in touch. But lately things have been strained ever since Adam and Chris broke up. Out of the blue things blew up between them and Adam doesn’t have a clue what went wrong. Chris is one who is successful and always accomplishes what he sets out to do. Adam has always been the love-em and leave-em type of guy and this caused difficulties for Chris, the faithful one. Jake is the ex-jock who can never keep a boyfriend. Jenni always makes the wrong choices with her guys, but her friends are determined to find the right man for her. Unfortunately, they decide to have Jake go bar hunting for the perfect mate for her, and he meets Cole, but things don’t go a planned. Hilarity ensues as their plan spirals out of control when Cole shows more interest in Jake than Jenni. But never fear, Jenni runs into an old acquaintance/nemesis in the form of police officer Luis. Will these friends find the love that they are all looking for? Will their friendship survive all the complications that life has in store for them? Follow the lives of Jenni, Chris, Adam, and Jake as they experience the heights and depths of life in situations that run from very serious to down right hilarious.
Ms. Harte has created a story that incorporates many complex situations that put Adam, Jenni, Jake, and Chris through an emotional wringer. Chris has a very difficult problem that caused him to push Adam away, but is this what Adam truly wants? Their situation is unfortunately a common one that with medical care and understanding can be dealt with. Jake has never had any success with men, but Cole may the beginning of a new life for him. Jenni doesn’t think she can really attract a man and even though her friends care for her, they don’t count since they're friends and gay to boot. I love how all of these complex situations combine to produce a story that holds the reader as the characters walk, sometimes fumble, through their lives just was we all do. I loved how they all stood together and never gave up on each other. They are a shining example of what friendship truly is. Thanks go to Ms. Harte for a great read.
