Secrets: A PsyCop Novel by Jordan Castillo Price is a homoerotic paranormal suspense story.

Vic and Jacob are policemen in the PsyCop division where, to help balance the team, one cop has paranormal abilities and one doesn’t. Vic is a strong level 5 psychic who can speak to ghosts which causes him many problems. They aren’t partners at work, but they are together in every other way. They are finally moving into their new home, one that is guaranteed to be ghost free from the last inhabitant, who has now passed on— literally. Things become strained between them when Jacob starts spending more time way from home making Vic wonder what is going on. Vic receives a call from his friend Lisa who was his partner for a short time before it was uncovered that she has a strong si-no ability, meaning she can tell someone if they are correct or not. Vic learns from Lisa that Jacob is seeing their friend Crash and so Vic confronts him about it. Then he learns that Jacob has a new and very strange case. What is going on and why is Jacob keeping Vic out of the loop?

Ms. Price has created a very interesting series incorporating suspense with a strong paranormal flair. Vic has had terrible experiences in his past dealing with his psychic abilities that causes him many difficulties dealing with his every day experiences. I find it fascinating how Vic sees the world and how he keeps learning that he may have more and stronger abilities then he is aware of. Lisa is still coming to grips with who she is and Vic may be the key in helping her cope. The relationship between Vic and Jacob may become even stronger as they believe in their love and each other. I for one can’t wait to hear about Vic’s past and how it may affect his and Jacob’s lives. Thanks go to Ms. Price for continuing this imaginative and unique series.
