God in the Stone
Nadia has a man that most women would kill for. He’s great looking, well off financially, and he takes care of her. However, there is no love between them. She has given up her life to please him, and she isn’t her own person anymore. On a business trip to Athens, Nadia hears a seductive voice calling out to her. Unable to stop herself, she touches the smooth marble column and releases the god trapped inside. Now, she has to wait seven days to get all of him, with only the slightest touches to please her. When the seven days are up, can she accept who her mysterious god is?
God in the Stone is unlike other erotic fantasy out there. Nadia is not really a character you are sure you like at the beginning. She follows what her boyfriend tells her to do, no matter what. She has given up her own personality to please him. When she hears the voice of the god inside the column, she finally starts to realize how bad her life has gotten. She can’t see her god, but once back at the hotel, she can feel him and hear him. It is a little strange to read a story where the hero is not really there, and no one else can hear him or see him. Nadia talks to him in public, and thinks nothing of it, and it makes her seem crazy. Another thing I am not sure about is that we hear her boyfriend’s side after she leaves. All we learn is that he is a cheater and he doesn’t care about her at all. I’m not sure why that part of the book was needed, unless it was to further justify Nadia going off into the woods with a god who is not wholly there. Still, Anastasia Rabiyah has written an interesting tale that still held my interest throughout.
