Hearts and Wishes
Holly Claus is tired of being over protected by her father—none other than the jolly ol' man himself. Although she is tutored and attends magick lessons with Rys, her father's second-in-command, she feels smothered. Rys knows how lonely Holly is and would gladly take her into his arms, but is not willing to anger her father. With the help of her mother and brother, she plots an escape, hoping to experience freedom for the first time. Her father never told her that the reason he was being so protective was because there is danger from those who are trying to assassinate him, and they will stop at nothing to get to him. Rys is sent to look for her and succeeds; however, Holly convinces him that she needs some time away from her father and his world. Rys reluctantly agrees, and Holly enjoys the time she spends alone with Rys because she has always loved him. While Rys is keeping her safe, he finds he cannot keep his hands off her, and they engage in private lessons of another sort. Will they be able to keep one step ahead of the danger while keeping their relationship a secret from her father?
Shiloh Walker penned a very enjoyable story. It's not often that we read stories about the Claus family that have an intelligent heroine and a sexy, hot hero. I absolutely loved Chelly, Holly's mother, who understands Holly and helps her escape. I sympathized with Holly, and cheered her on when she finally broke free from her father's rule. Rys was the kind of elf I would like to rescue me and spend time with. He was compassionate, empathetic and one hot man, or should I say elf? The sex scenes were hot…hot…hot. The plot of Hearts and Wishes was wholly entertaining, fast-paced and kept the suspense flowing. Ms. Walker has written a definite winner.
