Dark Elves 4: Dissent
Marisol and her brother Geriman are on the run trying to elude capture for murdering Marisol’s husband. After attempting to escape through the Dark Forest they are taken by rogue Dark Elves and almost pleasured to death before Jarak and his men rescue them. But, the Loyalist Dark Elves have to decide what to do with Marisol and Geriman, keep them as is tradition or let them go and usher in a new era.
Jet Mykles is a wonderfully imaginative author and has a fabulous talent for world building. Dark Elves 4: Dissent takes the world that Jet Mykles has built in the previous three books and turns it on its ear. Marisol is a strong female lead who has overcome adversity and tragedy and still remained strong. She is self-sacrificing in that she has always put her brother and his welfare before her own even when she shouldn’t. I enjoyed watching her character grow over the course of the story and couldn’t wait to see if she was going to finally put herself first for a change. Geriman was a selfish, spoiled brat who thought of no one but himself and acts before he thinks. He always tries to put the blame for things off on other people when his actions bring about consequences that he doesn’t like. He is one of those characters that you feel sorry for in the beginning but then just want to smack and tell them to grow up by the end. Jarak is everything you could want in an alpha male. Like the previous elves that Jet Mykles has focused on in her stories, Jarak has much to offer and is a sexy and sensual alpha male. He was very concerned for Marisol and I liked that his thoughts were about her first and foremost and not just his attraction to her. The plot further expanded on the ongoing changes that are taking place in the Dark Elves society since the loss of the vetriese and access to their Goddess. The sensual scenes were very hot and written with a keen eye for detail. Dark Elves 4: Dissent is an excellent read and I can’t wait to see how this series ends.
