My Vampire Lover

Ron is living his life, managing a restaurant and searching for that missing something. Jean-Claude comes to his restaurant one night at closing and Ron finds himself irresistibly drawn to the enigmatic and mysterious man. When Jean-Claude is brutally attacked and Ron discovers his body in the alley, secrets are revealed and Ron finds his dull ordinary life has become something quite extraordinary.

My Vampire Lover provides an interesting twist on the typical vampire story. Jean-Claude is mysterious and powerful as a vampire but it is the human that takes care of things and protects his vampire lover. Ron is a human and the manager of a restaurant and goes from one unfulfilling relationship to the next. Something is missing and when he meets Jean-Claude that void is filled. This was very short, but J.P. Bowie has done an excellent job of stuffing every sentence with drama, thrills, and passion. The characters were engaging and I was completely enthralled with the story line. I liked that the vampire wasn’t the leader in this story and took the role of the “damsel in distress” so to speak. This being the first work I’ve read by J.P. Bowie I haven’t had the opportunity to read his previous work My Vampire and I; the main characters in that story have a brief appearance in My Vampire Lover but it is not necessary to read it in order to enjoy this one. But, as soon as I finish this review I’m off to buy it. I can’t wait to immerse myself in Mr. Bowie’s world again.
