Landon “Lan” Jeffers makes his way about the Wild West gambling from town to town. After an accusation of cheating evolves into a gunfight Lan finds himself on the run from a corrupt Marshall and his posse. While traveling through Arizona Lan takes refuge in a cavern and finds it filled with silver and strange orange stones. Lan decides to bide his time for a bit and fill his pockets with the silver, not knowing that this decision will change his life forever.

Silver Dreams is a quick and delightful short read from Kate Steele. Filled with delicious characters and an intriguing plot, I was so disappointed when the story ended. Lan is a rugged man who makes the best out of whatever situation he finds himself in. He lives in a time when life is dangerous and even more so for a gay man. Dark, the Native American shaman, is not as well developed, but the tantalizing glimpses into his psyche just increases the mystery and makes Dark a character that I want to learn more about. I also enjoyed Kate Steele’s descriptive writing style, it made the landscapes and dreams all the more vivid and enjoyable. I can’t wait to read more about Lan and Dark and how Dark’s people accept Lan into their world.
