Forty years have gone by since the events that took place in Silver Dreams and Dark and Lan are a well established couple and leaders of Dark’s tribe. But times are changing and the time has come for the tribe to decide where their future lies—remaining in hiding or rejoining the modern world, especially now that there are rumors of a hidden, shapeshifting, Apache tribe circulating among the people encroaching into the wilds where Dark’s people have hidden all this time.

Another exciting installment in the Red Wolves series, Night Gems is a gem indeed. The bond between Lan and Dark is more fully fleshed out in this little jewel. Lan is the alpha of the pack and Dark is the shaman and the two balance each other out. Night Gems brings the focus on Dark and his feelings for Lan and the changes occurring in his tribe. Kate Steele explores how fear of differences and unknowns can cause people to act in ways that are at times incomprehensible and how the bond of love can survive even great acts of violence and how sometimes we don’t realize just how much someone means to us, not until we are faced with adversity and find that our actions can make all the difference in the world. I can’t wait to find out what happens in this delicious series next!
