Final Masquerade

Paige Carmichael is having a very bad time of it. She’s found out something terrible about her fiancé and now she’s running from him. She’s changed names and locations so many times even she’s almost forgotten what her real name is and where she’s from. The only constant in her life is her cat, Spirit, whom she picked up along the way. Along with a cast of loveable characters, Paige stays on the run and just ahead of her angry ex.

There really is a loveable cast of characters. Ms. Davis has done a superb job of creating people who help Paige along the way. And there is a hero of sorts. By that I mean, he’s not featured in the book much, thus my classifying it a suspense and not a romantic suspense. He does, however, do something magnificent, so be sure to pay attention.

I felt very badly for Paige. However, I didn’t start out that way. I thought her very self-centered and naďve or just plain uncaring at the beginning, but do read on because she learns very quickly and her character arc is something to behold.

All in all the book is a great read if you’re looking for suspense without the gore.
