Cheyenne Trilogy Book 2: Shadows in the Wind
Cole Cantrell and his son, Josh, are on their way to the ranch when they run into a violent storm tossing Josh to the ground. In the process of checking on Josh, Cole stumbles upon a limp body of a woman. He takes her back to their ranch, the Triple C Bar Ranch. Josh only ends up with a dislocated shoulder whereas the young woman, Stephanie, wakes to no memory whatsoever. She is in Wyoming territory, with people she isn’t familiar. Cole’s, mother Kate, wonders could the girl be trouble, after finding a note with her belongings implying she might be running from something. She believes Cole is too trustworthy. He informs his mother that it was like his deceased wife, Maggie, standing over his shoulder urging him to help the woman. It has been a year since her passing, and he still feels the loss. Kate believes he is still withdrawn until Stephanie enters his life and changes him. With a ranch to run, a son to care for, and trying to find something about Stephanie’s past, Cole’s life is on constant demand. Stephanie has nightmares that send her into Coles’ arms. Deep down the love that grows for them deepens in their heart. When the past finally catches up to her, will it destroy any happiness they have found?
I really enjoyed Shadows in the Wind, the second book in the Cheyenne Trilogy. It is heart-tugging to say the least. The combination of Stephanie, who is on the run with no memory, and Cole, who still suffers grief over the loss of his dear wife, are a winning team in my book. Two lost souls brought together by fate. I loved the dialogue, the family unity and the way everyone opens up to help Stephanie in her time of need. This moving story threw me in from the first page. It was like a giant sponge, and I was soaking in every beautiful detail. Carolyn Lampman writes stories that pierce the heart and captivate. I love the way she tells the story, with a descriptive setting that places the reader into the center of events. Great secondary characters sprinkle even more excitement into this fantastic read that is really hard to put down.
