Slow Hands
Madeline Turner couldn’t believe that she was going to spend her money on a guy at a charity auction. The auction was a grand thing, but this was so not what she wanted to do. According to her sister she had to do this because their stepmother was going to bid on a man, and she just couldn’t see her father hurt that way. The only way she knew to stop her stepmother was to outbid her for the man. After she spends an outrageous sum of money on the man, she just can’t believe that he is the gigolo that the auctioneer said that he was. The man is sweet, attractive, a gentleman and the very best lover that Madeline has ever had in her life. She feels something genuine with him and buys him exclusively for a whole month hoping that he will begin to feel the same for her. This man loves the idea of spending a whole month with Madeline, but he is not what she thinks he is and hopes that when she learns the truth she’ll love him for who he really is.
Paramedic Jake Wallace can’t believe that he got roped into doing the charity auction until he sees the woman of his dreams in the audience. He feels so lucky that she buys him until he finds out that she thinks he is a gigolo and pays him to spend a month with her. Spending a month with her will be pure heaven to him, but he is not a gigolo. He hopes that the time that they spend together will prove to Madeline that he loves her and that they can have a life together.
If the graphics design team had any idea of the trouble they would cause by getting the names wrong on two contestants they would move to Alaska and never be heard from again. It’s a good thing for them that the author of this book is Lesley Kelly, and she is a masterful storyteller and this book is one of her very best. I loved the fact that Madeline is filthy rich and Jake is just a normal guy, but it doesn’t bother them to be together. Both of these characters look past the money and the glitter that surrounds them to see the real person underneath. It’s so good to see Ms. Kelly writing Blazes again because this book is one of her hottest books to date. Jake is as sexy as sin and one I wouldn’t mind running into one day soon, but also the most gentlemanly man I’ve read about in a while. I’m very anxious to see what this author can do with the next book in this series because the hero will have to be a very special guy to outshine Jake.
