Anything for a Byline
What can be said that hasn’t already been said for a Sean Michael book? I’m sure it’s all been said, but I find myself able to add a few more adjectives, especially on Anything for a Byline. Right off the bat, we have the now infamous, Velvet Glove, a gentleman’s BDSM club that has brought about quite a few interesting tales.
Now it brings the story of Nat, an eager reporter who’d literally do anything for a byline. Even go to a club where “people whip each other” and go through a scene for an interview. I was intrigued with Nat right off the bat. He’s an interesting blend of journalist cynicism and innocence. Innocence that is strongly tested when he steps into the club and meets Mal, the BDSM version of a receptionist and then Richmond, the other hero and Nat’s ‘interviewer’.
Richmond is a true top, tough and seductive. He and a nervous Nat immediately strike sparks off each other, leaving me entranced as Nat stumbles through the scene, forcing himself to remember the byline while Richmond pulls out all the stops from a plug to whips. Yet, I could clearly feel a growing tension, strongly evident when Nat comes back, for once not focused on a byline.
Sean Michael weaves a fascinating tale that took me through the oh so secret and mysterious passages of the D/s world. He boldly shows what we can only imagine and managed to not only hook me into that world but to slide in tendrils of love and mystery as Nat’s inner reporter comes out and tosses his and Richmond’s relationship on a few rocks leading to a surprising development that only leads Nat and Richmond into a tighter, much more beautiful bond that I applauded straight to the end.
I highly recommend this tale for those who wish to get a taste of the BDSM world the way only Sean Michael can deliver it.
