Absolutely Not
Eighteen months ago Maisy walked in on her abusive husband having sex with another woman. In those eighteen months she’s not only ditched the cheating husband she’s ditched some weight and the doormat attitude too. All in the aim of coming face-to-face with her ex and showing him what he’s missing. Only he’s gone and dropped dead, taking away her chance for revenge. Visiting the funeral home probably isn’t a good idea but Maisy just can’t help herself. Nor can she help having a run in with the grieving widow, the tramp that she found in bed with her husband.
Bumping into the hunky Keller is the highlight of her visit. He’s so hunky Maisy has visions of jumping his bones in the mortuary, but after her run-in with the widow, Maisy just needs some air. Oh, and maybe some chocolate, Maisy thinks, as she dashes off before they can be introduced properly. Seeing him again at a local restaurant, she’s left speechless when her meddlesome boss tries his best to set them up, especially now that she knows who he is. He’s not one of the tramp’s conquests like Maisy thought. Worse, he’s her brother. Being a chocoholic, Maisy knows all about cravings but it doesn’t matter how much her body craves Keller, sleeping with someone from the enemy camp is a big no-no.
Absolutely Not by Daisy Dexter Dobbs is a great read. There’s nothing better than watching a woman kick back after being kicked for so long. I loved Maisy’s I’m-no-longer-a-doormat attitude and the taking back of her self esteem should be applauded. But the best bit about Maisy is her sense of humor. The woman knows how to laugh at herself. Watching her fight herself on the issue of Keller I found myself laughing and wanting her to win and not in equal measures. Keller is one fine man and I don’t care whose camp he’s in, I’m jumping him. If some tramp tries to steal my hubby she better come with a brother like Keller. I loved all the secondary characters, all quirky and fun. Maisy’s boss was the one I loved the most. Daisy Dexter Dobbs has managed to score a fan with Absolutely Not, her sense of humor appeals to me and I enjoyed this book very much. Miss Absolutely Not? Absolutely not!
