When Maia ceded her Gineal powers years ago, she thought that occasional visits from her sister would be the extent of her interaction with the Gineal. Now, Creed Blackwood has shown up on her doorstep injured and demanding she honor the expectation of shelter from another Troubleshooter. Just because she gave up her powers doesn't mean that she's given up her honor. Maia is drawn back into the magical world of the Gineal with a distinct disadvantage. But when the very being responsible for her ceding her powers resurfaces and endangers everything and everyone she holds dear, Maia will not sit out.

Creed Blackwood has been stung by the Fraiser family before; when he is injured he's in need enough to chance facing them again. With his pride stung and his side bleeding he goes to Maia and what was already a very dangerous job becomes even worse when his heart becomes invested.

Patti O'Shea has continued an amazing series in In Twilight's Shadow. I was thrilled to see a return to characters that were like old friends from the first book and enjoyed reading about life before In the Midnight Hour. There is a fantastically horrible villain and a slew of new demons and other rotten henchmen to meet and Ms. O'Shea brings them to life wonderfully. I can only hope that we will be able to revisit this reality yet again now that the Frasier sisters are 'settled.'
