Struck by Lightning
Isabella Girardi has just about given up meeting Mr. Right and at thirty-eight there just aren’t many men around that appeal to her. Her friends tell her she needs an immortal man but Isabella thinks that is as likely as being struck by lightning. Galvin Haldor has been hired as a new weather team member where Isabella is the chief meteorologist. Although Galvin is one gorgeous guy he doesn’t have professional weather training, just a knack for weather. If Isabella only knew he has an inside track to the weather as the son of Thor. Isabella can’t deny she is extremely sexually attracted to Galvin but is that enough to want to introduce him to her chaotic family? If she had any idea what his family was like, she wouldn’t be worried.
Struck by Lightning by Lizzie T. Leaf is a humorous twist to mythology set in the modern era. Ms. Leaf’s portrayal of the life of the gods and their families is fun and entertaining. Then throw in a professional meteorologist, Isabella, who is practical and scientific and there are obvious conflicts between the main characters. How can a scientist believe in gods and how can a god understand modern mortals? Add to that the incredible chemistry between Isabella and Galvin and you have steam rising every time they touch. Unfortunately, Ms. Leaf appears to assume that the readers of this story are already familiar with mythology because she doesn’t explain who all the characters are. For example, a Valkyrie becomes a major part of the story but if you do not know what this is, it is not explained, just inferred. Struck by Lightning is a marvelous tale for lovers of mythology. If you are not as familiar with all types of mythological beings, the story is still good but you may find it confusing occasionally.
