‘Tween a Devil and His Hard Place
Astra Q Phelps is a tweener, half devil and half angel. And now that she is linked to a Royal Devil, the Prince Dialle, her devil side is closer than ever and Astra has to work to stay out of trouble. Unfortunately a demon uprising, an overly ambitious witch, and even her parents all seem to be conspiring to make life difficult for Astra and Dialle. Somebody has big plans to take over The Council and if they succeed it will change the balance in the world forever. Will Astra, Prince Dialle, Astra’s business partner Emo and Astra’s guardian angel Myra be able to determine what is going on in time to stop it? And while they are distracted and trying to save the world, will Astra be able to resist Dialle’s determined seduction? If Astra gives in to Dialle, will his dark side push her balance over to the dark side?
I am thoroughly enjoying this series. ‘Tween a Devil and His Hard Place by Sam Cheever is the second book in this delightful, irreverent, and humorous series. This title can be read stand alone but I don’t recommend it. You don’t want to miss the set up and action from the first story that this book builds on. Ms. Cheever has a wonderful and creative cast of characters in her stories that will charm you and keep you guessing, because it seems it is difficult to tell just who the bad guys are and who the good guys are. A little devil may turn out to be Astra’s ally while an angel could be the enemy. But Astra is determined to stop whoever is behind this plot and save the world. To add to Astra’s problems, as her relationship with Dialle becomes more and more steamy, her relationship with Emo is getting confusing. Now that he is one hot looking tweener and not the little red devil she grew up with, she is finding herself having inappropriate responses to him too. It must be the devil in her personality!
Then there is that prophesy of a person born in darkness that will join with the good to be able to bring balance…is it Dialle or not? Darn it, it must be in book three because Ms. Cheever is still dragging that one out! I love Ms. Cheever’s wicked sense of humor in this series and I have to wonder if she may be a tweener too, as there is a definite sense of devilment to her story telling. I highly recommend reading ‘Tween a Devil and His Hard Place and I am anxiously awaiting book three to see what happens next in Astra’s life.
