Dangerous to Touch
Sidney Morrow has always been careful not to touch people or animals because of her ability to see visions of their past and takes extra precautions at the kennel that she owns. But one morning when she is awoken by a dog barking then sees a news broadcast about a second woman that has been abducted with her dog, Sidney starts to think she is having auditory hallucinations as well as visual. That all changes when Sidney arrives at work to find the missing woman’s dog pacing in front of her kennel and mistakenly pets him to calm him down. After seeing visions of the gunshots and blood, Sidney realizes that she will have to report everything to the police and dreads the humiliation and accusations that she will face.
Detective Marc Cruz’s first thoughts about Sidney are that she isn’t his type and that she isn’t looking for a man then after hearing her story about how she found the missing woman’s dog, he knows that she is withholding information and starts to believe that she may be involved more than she’s letting on.
As Marc investigates Sidney further, he gets to know her better and as he does, the attraction between them grows as does the danger when an article is published about them and Sidney’s involvement in the case.
Dangerous to Touch by Jill Sorenson is an intriguing tale of deception, danger and desire. Sidney was an easy character to like with her easy going ways and her ability to stand up for herself except with her family. I felt sorry for her at times when she was treated so shabbily by her family and ridiculed for her ability but it never overshadowed the story.
Now Marc was a little harder to like at first, but after getting to know his back story a little more it was much easier to see what a good, caring guy he really was.
The action in this story was exhilarating and intense as was the passion between the characters. Ms. Sorenson has proven herself as a talented writer and one to watch with this first book. I will be eagerly awaiting her next. 5 Angels!
