Mayan Secrets

Mayan Secrets by Ciar Cullen is lightly erotic suspense story with leanings to the paranormal.

Over a hundred years ago, Catherwood with his partner Stephens were in the jungles exploring for archeological relics when he stumbled into a situation that was almost paranormal in nature and beyond belief. The knowledge of the encounter has recently been uncovered by a present day Indiana Jones character called Tyre Rasmussen who enlists the help of Troya, a renowned archeologist who has studied Catherwood extensively. Troya has always found men like Tyre fascinating, but having a real life explorer creates more than just an interesting study, Troya finds Tyre overwhelming in a very personal manner. It doesn’t help that Tyre is known for being a ladies man, even though he feels the same way. In spite of this, Troya agrees to accompany Tyre to the jungle of Mexico to unravel the mystery in Catherwood’s diary and find their missing man, Jack. Could the outlandish incidents in Catherwood’s journal be the ravings of a crazed man or are their dangers lurking in the jungle that poses a threat to Tyre, Troya and their entire team? Will Troya and Tyre have a chance to explore their growing feelings before time runs out?

Ms. Cullen has created a story incorporating humor, suspense, drama, and romance with a paranormal flare that captivates the reader from the start. I loved how the story began by Catherwood telling his tale and then returning to the future for the reader to learn how it all came about. The visual descriptions of the journal brought the past alive for the reader and enriched the plot as Troya and Tyre worked to uncover the clues to find Dan. The character Dan with his irreverent behavior and sarcastic wit kept the members of the group on their proverbial toes waiting for the next comment to drop. In all, this book has a rich plot with many twist and unexpected turns that amuses and enthralls the reader until the bitter end. I look forward to future books by this wonderful author who never fails to astound her readers with her captivating stories.
