Cat of a Different Color
Sheridan Montgomery has been fleeing a wolf shifter ever since he almost killed her in college. Her friends Max and Simon took care of her after the attack and changed her to a puma shifter to save her life but she has steadfastly refused to join their pack because it would endanger others, until now. When Dr. Adrian Giordano, Max’s business partner and a puma shifter, is sent to pick up Sheri and bring her to the pack for members to meet her, he instantly senses he is in big trouble; Sheri is his mate. Neither Sheri nor Adrian was looking for a mate and now is not the best timing, but there is no arguing with the inner puma when its mate is sensed. The couple will have to first eliminate the wolf pursuing Sheri to get on with their lives and the wolf is a danger to anyone associated with Sheri. Can they get the big bad wolf first before he gets them?
This is the third book in the Halle Pumas series, a very cute and well done shape shifters series. I do not recommend reading Cat of a Different Color as a stand alone. There is a lot of history in the first two books which is built upon in this third title. I very much enjoyed the arrogant Adrian thinking he will be able to choose when he is ready for a mate and how he is knocked to his knees by Sheri. Sheri is an albino and with that comes sensitivity to the sun and eyesight problems making her legally blind but despite her disabilities, Sheri is a very strong, passionate, and loyal woman that has had a very rough time since the wolf shifter attacked her. I think Sheri is one of my favorite characters in this series. I can’t wait to learn more about her in a later book because I sense the author isn’t through with Sheri yet. The end of this story leaves little doubt that a forth book must be on the way and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. If you have read the first two books in this series you certainly don’t want to miss this story. If you have not yet read any of the Halle Pumas series, you are in for a treat but I recommend you start with the first book, The Wallflower.
