The Wild Sight
Rylie Powell travels to Ireland to find and confront her missing father and find out why he abandoned them, but what she finds is a mystery and danger. Donovan O’Shea left Ireland as a youth to avoid the clairvoyance that seems to haunt his life in Ireland. And Donovan finds “the gift” is returning in spades when he is forced to return to Ireland because of his father’s stroke. Now Rylie has appeared on the scene claiming to be his half-sister but what Donovan and Rylie sense toward each other when they are near is not what siblings should feel. Are Donovan and Rylie related by blood, are there family secrets better left alone, and why are people suddenly being attacked on O’Shea land?
My family claims there is a bit of Irish blood in our background and whether it is there or not, I have always loved a good Irish tale; this is one of the best I’ve read! The story is filled with intrigue, a good versus evil battle to right the wrongs of the past, ghost and visions, and a very sensual love story. Both Donovan and Rylie are very strong willed, intelligent, and damaged from the abandonment of a parent. Rylie’s father disappeared when she was a toddler and Donovan’s mother wondered off into the fens when he was a boy, never to be seen again. Neither is looking for nor expecting the extreme sexual attraction they feel towards one another. What if Rylie is Donovan’s sister? But when bodies begin to turn up on the O’Shea property Rylie and Donovan must figure out what is going on before someone else is murdered. Unfortunately the answer seems to stem from the time frame of Donovan’s mother’s disappearance and using Donovan’s “gift” may be the only way to discover the truth if someone doesn’t kill them first. I loved this twisted plot and the conflicted and taboo feelings Rylie and Donovan must deal with while they try to stay alive and solve the mystery surrounding their parents. Part of the book feels naughty and definitely steamy, then parts of the story are rife with danger and uncertainty, and parts of the tale are bittersweet. I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this book and highly recommend this book! I hope Ms. McGary has more Irish romantic suspense tales planned because I will be in line to read them!
