After her uncle is murdered, Jayné Heller discovers reality isn't quite what she thought it was. Jayné travels to Denver to settle his estate, where she learns her uncle Eric is much richer then she ever imagined, and now everything is hers. Eric has also left her another legacy, unfinished business with wizards known as the Invisible College led by Randolph Coin. Now Jayné has to find a way to believe that this is all real, and fast, before Coin turns his sights on her. With the help of her new friends, she has to somehow avenge her uncle’s death, and stop Coin from spreading more evil.

I absolutely loved Unclean Spirits. The world that M.L.N. Hanover has created is fascinating without being overbearing, and it is unique enough that it stands out from the rest of urban fantasy genre. Jayné is a normal twenty-two-year-old who isn’t sure of her place in the world. She is someone I can see as being a friend, or even being me. She is strong enough to do what needs to be done, and asks for help while she is doing it. The rest of the cast was just as great. The group starts to form a family that I wanted to be apart of. They are all different in their own way and none of them slowly fade into the background. Every character in Unclean Spirits has a strong voice, and that makes this great story even better. M.L.N Hanover has written the start of a new series that I cannot wait for. Unclean Spirist is a must read for any urban fantasy lover.
