Petite Caressa Davenport has waited for Kirkland Perry to offer for her for years. She never thought she would see him kiss her very best friend, the voluptuous Dulcie. Heartbroken, Caressa resigned herself to a life without the man she loves, but fate has something else in store.

Kirkland has been in love with Dulcie for years. He feels she is the type of woman that can handle his rough lovemaking. She is strong and sturdy. He is devastated when Dulcie marries another. He has known tiny Caressa his entire life and is taken aback to find she has feelings for him. An innocent kiss turns into a compromising position and wedding bells are suddenly in the works for Caressa and Kirkland. Caressa is determined to show Kirkland that she is no shrinking violet.

I found Courting Caressa to be a refreshing change from the usual historical. Caressa blossoms into a strong woman determined to show her husband she is what he needs. An intricate web of love is woven around the reader and I found myself hoping for a great outcome. Kirkland is frustrating, he thinks he knows what he wants and he couldn’t be more off the mark. I was pleasantly surprised with the twists and turns the story took. I will be reading more by S.J. Ronayne.
