Cat Scratch Fever

Garin is having a really bad day. He is suffering from the build up of his magic, and when it builds up like this the results are unpredictable and uncontrollable. He is an elf and he’s trying to live his life like a human. He has his human lover, Simon, who is well aware of his nature and his magical problems; he has a job as a baker, now if Garin could only get through the day without anything untoward happening he’d be thrilled. But, when you cross a stray tomcat, a health inspector and a nervous, anxious Garin the worst is bound to occur.

Ms. Davitt is a fun author to read. She is a recent discovery of mine and I am so happy to have found her work. Cat Scratch Fever is a perfect example of Ms. Davitt’s talent. Coming in at just under thirty pages you wouldn’t expect a lot of substance. But, in this instance, you’d be wrong. Cat Scratch Fever is full of witty banter, after all, how often do you get to see the world from the eyes of a cat turned human? Garin is adorable as the slightly befuddled Elf trying to make his way as a human. His screw ups are fun to read about. I think that Simon was great as the human boyfriend that tries to be patient and deal with Garin and the sudden acquisition of a cat in human form. An enjoyable and fun read!
