The Lost Are Never Far
Jasmine is from a small town called North Riverview. She moved away as soon as she got a chance because her brother, Jack, committed suicide when she was nine on a train bridge and she saw it happen. Jasmine gets called in on a special assignment to visit a haunted mansion called Lucas Manor. Jasmine is a special kind of ghost hunter. They seem to be drawn to her and strange things always happen whenever she’s around. When she arrives in town she discovers the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart, Mitch, is on the same ghost hunting team and she has to work uncomfortably close with him. Every time Jasmine enters Lucas Manor, she feels like all of her energy has drained away and she starts seeing a female ghost by the name of Lea, begging for her help. That’s not including the evil flying ghost head she keeps seeing. A couple of times she even sees her dead brother’s ghost. Suddenly Jasmine has more on her plate than she can handle! A house that has evil intentions towards her every time she goes inside, an ex boyfriend still in love with her, a hot new guy on the team named Ben who has the hots for her, and her dead brother’s ghost watching over her!
The Lost Are Never Far by Stephanie Barmann was easily the best ghost hunter story I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading! If you’re looking for a great romance with a paranormal element thrown in, you’ve definitely got the right book. It seemed to be over way too soon and had me wishing it would last forever! The old romance and breakup between Jasmine and Mitch had me feeling bad for her and at the same time-feeling sorry for him and wishing she would take him back. Even with the other character, Ben, thrown in to add another possibility for her, you’ll still want her to end up with Mitch. Jasmine’s fight over dealing with her brother’s suicide and finding out all the reasons behind it had me upset and wishing I could jump in and give her a hug.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Barmann and I will definitely be looking out for more by this talented author! The story flowed evenly all the way through and will have you hooked in no time.
