Mistress of Tiethla
Alex has never really felt like she belonged in this world. While earning extra credit by working with her professor on an archaeological dig of a grave filled with artifacts, she becomes fascinated and continues working with him beyond the required time for her extra credit. One morning, Alex arrives at Professor Harris’ office to find a circular inscription on the floor. The professor asks her to put on a necklace, hold a book, both found in the grave, and stand in the circle. Once there, she is to read a passage from the book.
Alex wakes to find herself in another world, a very different world, and she knows that her life will never be the same. The Draconi have a prophesy that says that one of their own kind will come from a different world, will have much power, and will save that world and finally bring peace to them. Now Alex must decide if she wants to learn how to use her power and abilities to fulfill that prophecy, or to find the one man that can send her back to her own time and world.
Mistress of Tiethla is a wonderful book, from beginning to end. The first thing that I noticed was that Jade Twilight has an engaging writing style, drawing me in and keeping me hooked. The storyline was fantasy at its best! I normally am not a huge fan of fantasy, but after reading this book, I think I may need to rethink how I feel about this genre. Alex is a strong character. She has never felt like she belonged and seemed to be the shy, bookworm type to me. Once she was in Tiethla, she began a change that even she could not understand. She became more outspoken, stronger, passionate, and then, after a struggle, she became her true self. There really was not a hero in this book. I am generally used to a heroine and a hero, but in this book there is Alex and those that she meets along her journeys, who help her and also become her lovers. Each character was unique and likeable, but even after just reading the book, no one stands out more than the other, only Alex. I did feel that the book was rushed along just a bit and the sex scenes, although extremely hot, also felt rushed. If the story and the sex scenes could be drawn out just a bit more, with a little more detail, then this would have been the perfect book. With that being said, I still feel that this book deserves the highest rating of five angels. Not only am I now anxiously awaiting the second book in this series, now I have got to buy more from this amazing author!
