Mitchell Shaw has a bounty on his head, but that was to be expected when he gave up his cover while working undercover to bring down one of the biggest crime bosses in the world. Even knowing that he has to deal with this, he still plans to enjoy the wedding of one of his best friends. Part of that enjoyment comes from being with Sissy Mae Smith. Whenever they are together, they have the most fun in the whole world. He enjoys making her laugh, and she always has something hilarious to say that will normally have him spitting out the last thing that went into his mouth. What he doesn’t expect is to be shot and to have her rescue him by taking him to the backwoods of her hometown in Tennessee.

It seemed like the perfect thing to do for him because she didn’t think that the attacker would track him to that spot of the world. She had forgotten how different the world was there to people that weren’t used to it. She thought that he would have at least seen a pet alligator living in a pond. Her aunts loved to keep him fed from their pie shop, and if he didn’t have to eat a gazelle or zebra every two hours, he would fit in quiet nicely in her hometown. Unfortunately, after he testifies he will go into the witness protection program, and Mitch and Sissy Mae will never see each other again. They keeping hoping things will work out differently, but this is an open and shut case. Isn’t it?

I dare you to read this story and not laugh out loud at least once. I love anything that Shelly Laurenston has written but this is my favorite book that she has ever penned. I couldn’t wait to see what Sissy Mae Smith would get into in her own romance, but I never expected to like Mitchell Shaw like I did. This book was summed up by Mitch when he told Sissy “…… I love making you laugh.” Whether Mitch is petting a pet alligator at 3:00 am or Sissy is driving in a demolition derby that almost has Mitch killing her, the book will have you rolling in the floor more times than you can count. It is also one of the hottest books that this author has written, but I would expect no less from these two people. They have denied their attraction for too long, but when it hits them, it hits like a two by four and there is no denying it, for either of them. Another fun thing about this book was that we were introduced to another cousin of Sissy Mae’s, and maybe she’ll get her own story one day soon. Pick up a copy of The Mane Attraction, and I promise that you’re going to love it. It’s humorous it’s hot and it will leave you wanting more and more from Ms. Laurenston.
