Sixth in the Sons of Destiny series, The Storm is Rydan’s story. He wants nothing more then to be left alone, preferring to sleep during the day to be left alone in peace at night. Then Rora shows up and sneaks past all Rydan’s defenses, magical and emotional. He doesn’t understand how she could want to be around someone like him, and he tries to ignore his own feelings as well. Rora can see what makes Rydan escape to solitude and she wants to help him. She also has a big secret of her own, one of such great power; people would kill to own it. Rora and Rydan need to learn to trust each other in order to fulfill destiny, keep each other safe, and find their own happiness.

Jean Johnson has delivered great stories in her Sons of Destiny series and The Storm is no exception. Rydan is the most mysterious of the brothers, and I loved finally getting a glimpse into his head. He is a character that made me feel for him, I couldn’t wait for him to get his happily ever after. He is strong, caring, and capable of loving someone greatly. Rora compliments him perfectly and I highly enjoyed reading about their path towards love. The Storm is a blend of romance, action, and magic. This series is growing towards a conclusion that I can’t wait to read about, and yet I am not ready for the ride to end. The Storm is a must read for any fan of fantasy romance.
