Kill A Painted Pony
With silver revolvers in her hands, Annabelle Oaklee always psyches herself up for every performance when she swings up on her horse, Target. Her horse has lightning speed, and once the two get out in the rodeo arena, the crowd goes wild. It is always a winning performance that impresses the crowd every time. When detectives arrive questioning her business, The Painted Pony, Annie goes weak in the knees. It appears someone is using her business to stuff a new drug in the body cavities of horses, getting them ready for shipment. Annie cannot believe her gallery could be involved. When Kieran Hawes comes calling, she is surprised to see her old friend. He is there to offer her protection as he does his own investigation. He works for the organization, WRAITH, and they have an army of agents who will come to her rescue, if necessary. With the shipment of drugs, and drug problems in the Painted Pony, Annie is determined to see who is trying to ruin her, but the more the search deepens, every time she turns around, someone is getting killed. With more dangers threatening, Annie faces the hardest test in her life.
Killed A Painted Pony is an engaging story chalked full of suspense and action-packed entertainment. With its great pacing, well-developed plot, and robust characters, I found it an impeccable read. I like the setting with the rodeo, giving the reader a backdrop feel of all the anticipation that plays in the air. Annie is a powerful female lead who I would love to have in my ball court, if I was in any trouble. I love her tenacity when her truck is stolen. The interweaving of Annie and Kier kept me on the edge-of-my-seat. This is one class-act read. I like the impact that the secondary cast adds to this story. Kelsy George spins a tale that devours from the beginning. I love horses and this one shows a keen admiration for the stunning animal, especially when it seems others wish to use them wrongfully. Ms. George puts her heart into the making of this wonderful read.
