Melanie Trident is kind of a loaner. She keeps to herself and enjoys reading her favorite book called Wizard’s Heart, over and over again, unlike her beautiful and genuinely nice stepsister, Venus Montgomery, the head hauncho at a day spa called Viva Venus, where Melanie is the accountant. Venus decides Melanie is to holed up all the time and sends her off with her credit card to do some spontaneous shopping before they attend a masked ball at the opening of Club Mirage, a local nightclub. Mel decides that she’d rather do some reading instead and stops for lunch and a quick chapter from her favorite book. When she gets up to leave, she runs into a gorgeous man named Nic who flirts with her excessively and Mel gives him the cold shoulder. To escape him, she runs straight into a store called Madam Periwinkle’s Erotic Delights where she finds the perfect mask for the evening’s event. She quickly escapes the store and its quirky owner, Madam Periwinkle, to head home and read some more before the ball. Melanie falls fast asleep reading only to find herself living in her book! Will Melanie ever find her Happily Ever After?

Melanie Unmasked by Michele Bardsley was a very fast and fun read. I really connected with Melanie on a personal level; we were shy and self-conscious together! Where can I find a copy of Wizard’s Heart for myself? I loved the way Michele not only weaved a beautiful fairy tale but also threw in a lot of her well-known humor and wit! There was so much of Melanie reading her book though! I would have liked a lot more of Melanie’s story and less of the Wizard’s Heart. Even with that said, I still extremely enjoyed this hilarious, romantic read. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, romantic story.
