Betrayals

Logan Lambert’s world is collapsing like his building did when an earthquake hit. Someone must have done something to cause his building not to be sound and it wasn’t him. Who could it be? It must be someone he trusts because they are the only ones who he didn’t monitor carefully. Knowing he faces personal ruin, Logan takes his books to Kayla Hampton, a blind CPA who will be able to find a problem in his books if it exists. What Kayla and Logan didn’t expect was to find they had incredible chemistry. Now someone is threatening Kayla and it must have something to do with Logan’s books. They will have to depend on each other to get out of this alive.

Betrayals by Janet Quinn is very well done suspense story. From the beginning the reader is able to follow the plots, plans, and thoughts of the bad guy but does not know who it is. At the same time, Kayla and Logan are struggling to figure out what is going on as well as dealing with their attraction to one another. Both Kayla and Logan are intelligent, independent, self-made business people who are in over their heads, and it will take both of them together to get out of this situation. Then the bad guy applies more pressure and people begin to die. Why did Logan’s building fail and who is behind trying to ruin him? Why is someone trying to hurt Kayla? What could Kayla know that is a danger to someone? Who of Logan’s friends betrayed him? Is there any hope of saving Logan’s business even if they do find the bad guy? And they will have to prove Logan had nothing to do with whatever is going on and that will be extraordinarily difficult. Throughout the story these questions will swirl around the main characters while Ms. Quinn slowly and meticulously doles out the clues to solve the mystery. I did not figure it out completely until the end of the book! I hope Ms. Quinn will write more stories like this and I would love to see Kayla and Logan turn up as secondary characters in another book.
