Mariah Sayers’s parents were cold and abusive while Mariah was growing up but she did the best she could and found pleasure in the little things. That all changed after Mariah was brutally attacked one night while waiting for her father to go to bed so she could sneak back in the house. When she finally found the courage to tell her mother, she found no sympathy or support. So later when she discovered that she was pregnant, Mariah did the only thing she could and packed her things and left home.

Now, sixteen years later, Mariah is back in her hometown her in order to get the house fixed up and sold after it was left to her when her parents died. After the first few shocks of being back, Mariah is happy to be catching up with her old friends and is especially interested in the local vet Jack Taylor. But as time goes on, Mariah can’t shake the feeling that someone is watching her and when her closest friend is attacked Mariah knows the man who raped her years ago is back, and that it’s time to face her past and chance loosing the life she has worked so hard to build.

I have to admit that romantic suspense is my favorite genre and Broken Pieces has to be at the top of my list. I started this book while waiting until time to leave for my appointment and the next thing I know I’m finishing up the last page! I was completely swept up in the story and in awe of the strength that Mariah showed.

Ms. Cassidy is a talented writer that keeps the suspense level high throughout the story and the romance smoking hot! I am always thrilled to add a new author to my shelf of keepers and look forward to adding more of Ms. Cassidy’s riveting tales.
