Edge of Hunger
From the second that Molly Stratton got out of her car, Ian Buchanan knew that she was trouble. She was blonde, petite, had the cutest bunch of freckles he had ever seen, and he would be more than happy to drown in her warm brown eyes. Trouble is confirmed when the first words out of her mouth are a message from his dead mother. He hadn't seen his mother for the last sixteen years of his life, and the reason was simple to him: the woman was crazy. She was always talking about the dark creature that lived inside of him and that Ian would know when it was time for the creature to be released. According to Molly, that time is now. He tries to ignore her, but when she comes to his apartment with bloody bites marks on her neck that he gave her in a shared dream, he knows that he must face the reality of what she is saying.

The dead started to talk to Molly when she was seventeen years old and her best friend committed suicide. Most of the time, the dead want to pass on a message to a love, and she can handle that without a lot of problem. This message is different than anything she has done before, and she knows that if Ian will listen to her, he can save himself and he can save other people's lives. This is her one chance to do something right with her life and to make up for the fact that she didn't listen to her best friend before she killed herself. The shared dream and the first dead body seem to get his attention, so now they need to figure out what monster is doing it and how to stop it.

She has written contemporary, fantasy and paranormal, and I have been a fan of every story that came out of Rhyannon Byrd's pen since she published her first book in 2004. Edge of Hunger threw me for a loop as far as her writing skill. I enjoyed her other paranormal books and thought this would be in the same genre. What she did with this book so surpassing everything that she has ever written before. It's compelling, intense, suspenseful and passionate. With this book, every chapter leads so well into the next that you're not going to want to put it down once you start it. She takes you into the killers mind so that you know his every thought and why he does his every deed. I was used to seeing her do this with a couple, but to see her turn her talent around and go into the mind of a killer was so awesome that it was almost scary. The Primal Series will be in April, May and June and I can wait to read the May book which will star Saige, Ian's sister.
