After Greg's father injures his leg, Greg Howe must return home to help out at the Sugar Shack, the family business. The problem is his old, ex-friend Alex is there to greet him. Years before Greg and Alex's relationship turned an uncomfortable corner and nothing has been the same since. But this chance meeting over syrup may give them a second chance to reconnect. The only problem is Greg has turned into a very sad man.

Piper Evyns creates memorable characters in Something Sweet! Greg steals the show in this novella. Greg comes off as a sad man and you don't really know why at first-don't worry , everything comes to light eventually. Apparently he used to be a happy person and you see a glimpse of this here and there. The plot is woven around Greg's issues with wonderful talent and Alex seems to be the knight -in-shining-armor type. No one can resist him. No one! The tenderness and caring the character's show throughout Something Sweet makes it well worth the read. You will end up rooting for Alex and Greg, that I will promise. Piper Evyns certainly proves she writes great characters, a trait I absolutely look for in any book I read. A solid 5 angels!
